SAMURAI X

Samurai X memiliki judul asli Rurouni Kenshin (るろうに剣心) ialah manga dan anime karya Nobuhiro Watsuki yang berlatar belakang awal dari era Meiji di Jepang. Manga ini terbit di majalah mingguan Shonen Jump dan telah dibukukan menjadi 28 seri buku. Di Indonesia manga ini diterbitkan oleh Elex Media Komputindo pada tahun 2002 dengan judul Samurai X

Nama Samurai X pertama kali digunakan oleh ADV Films dalam merilis anime Rurouni Kenshin di Amerika. Nama ini diambil dari tanda codet berbentuk X di wajah Kenshin.

Rorouni Kenshin menceritakan tentang pengembaraan seorang samurai legendaris, nama lainnya adalah Kenshin Himura. Untuk beberapa tahun ia hidup menjadi Battousai “Si Pembantai”. Dia adalah yang terbaik dari semua pembunuh bayaran yang terbaik. Ia memiliki tehnik yang sempurna. Dia sukses berkat Shishio Hiko Seijuro. Beberapa tahun, dia melihat, merasakan, dan hidup dari darah para musuhnya. Pembunuhan terjadi dari ketakutan dan perlawanan dia. Dia ingin keluar dari hidup ini, dan ingin hidup damai. Seseorang tau bahwa Battousai “si pembantai” adalah Kenshin Himura.

Kaoru, seorang gadis yatim piatu; Sanosuke, nama dari mati dan darah; Yahiko, diselamatkan oleh Kenshin dan menjadi muridnya; Megumi, Doctor wanita. Pengembara samurai itu telah melupakan masa lalunya dan kini ia menjalani hidupnya yang sekarang. Si samurai tidak pernah menggunakan pedangnya lagi. Dia telah memiliki pedang baru, “ mata pedang terbalik” dia berjanji tidak akan membunuh lagi. Tapi suatu waktu, Battousai tidak pernah mati. Dalam pengembaraannya Kenshin Himura menemukan tentang kota Tokyo dan Kyoto, berjumpa dengan musuh dan sahabat-sahabatnya. Tapi mata pedang kebalik itu untuk kebaikan atau untuk kehidupannya?
